End of the 2012 season

An end to the low water levels? Happy holidays to all.

2012 is now drawing to a close, and for the yacht clubs and sailing organisations, the work begins for the planning of our next sailing season. By now most of the clubs have had their annual general meetings, and your new executives are in place, in some cases, for the 2013 season, ready to participate in the planning. Club managers, where most of the real work subsides, will be taking a deep breath (and maybe a quick vacation) before the next seasons work is upon them, sometime in February.

The key question for all of us this year, of course, what will be the water levels be like during the next season? So far, there is no obvious good news in the rainfall / snowfall, but it is early in the season, of course. We can all hope for a snowy winter. Especially upstream!

SLVYRA will be preparing the awards for the 2012 season again, and these can be expected to be announced in good time for the award ceremony, this season expected to be held in April. The winners of the Trophies over the last two seasons since we started the new award cycle can be found on our site here, and we look forward to adding the new winners to the list soon.

The Executive of the SLVYRA extends its wishes for a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy and prosperous New Year to all its members and their families. May we all look forward to a great sailing season in 2013, along with deeper waters than we have been used to recently.

Best regards,

Your SLVYRA Executive.
